Tara Gaschler Salinas is the founder and managing attorney of Salinas Law Group LLC in Denver, Colorado. For more than two decades, she has represented individuals and small business owners navigating financial crisis, with a practice focused on consumer Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
Tara has built an active bankruptcy-based student loan discharge practice. She has successfully discharged over $2,000,000 of student loan debt and has filed more student loan discharge actions than all other Colorado attorneys combined. Her work reflects a deep commitment to expanding meaningful relief for borrowers who have long been told that nothing could be done with their student loans.
In 2025, she was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). She is the 2024 recipient of NACBA’s K. Colleen Nunnelly Award, honoring her quiet leadership, enthusiasm, and steadfast commitment to NACBA’s mission.
A frequent national and international speaker, Tara presents on bankruptcy issues, student loan relief, and creating a technology-forward practice for organizations, including NACBA, the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT), and the Central and Eastern European Law Institute’s International Models of Insolvency program.
Deeply committed to strengthening consumer protections, Tara was part of a coalition of bankruptcy attorneys who successfully advocated for increases to Colorado’s exemption laws in 2022, including a 233% increase to the homestead exemption. She has served on the Colorado Bankruptcy Local Rules Standing Committee since 2010. She actively mentors new practitioners on building their own law firm while serving consumer clients.
Tara earned her B.A. from Colorado State University and studied parliamentary government at the London School of Economics, where she completed an internship in the House of Commons. She received her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law. As a Colorado Native, she enjoys spending time in the Rockies with her husband and three sons.
Tara has dedicated her career to walking with people through some of the most overwhelming moments of their lives. Her calm and reassuring presence helps clients replace fear with clarity and approach difficult decisions with confidence. She believes financial hardship does not define a person’s character, and that bankruptcy law, practiced with integrity, can restore dignity. She serves every client with respect and a conviction that they deserve a fresh start.
