Richard was very helpful..always willing to answer all questions...very straightforward and did not just tell me what I wanted to hear to make the money or get the case...He is the most reasonably priced that I was able to find in the area..He also seems to have a genuine interest in helping his clients and is not in it just for himself like most other lawyers I have spoken with in the area.

I was involved in a DCFS case that I felt I was wrongly convicted of child abuse/neglect of my 3 children. He pretty much guaranteed he could win my case after paying him $2000 of borrowed money, but instead lost the case & charged me another $700+. He didn't tell me it would be more before continuing services. He didn't even meet with me until the day before my hearing for about 30 minutes, where he informed me to contact my witnesses to tell them to be there the next day for court.

Wow!! Richard's paralegal helped me out back in 2009 for a simple divorce case (no children and only been married 3 yrs). I had a rather large bill that he charged me for HIS time, not the paralegal time. I never communicated with him, only his paralegal and we agreed on a simple divorce decree. I ended up working (off the books) to at his law firm to compensate for my bill. I haven't heard from him since 2010. Today, I get a bill from him (11/21/2021). In the notes sections, he writes in bold/all caps "CREDIT TO REMOVE HUGE BALANCE DUE - THE WITCH OWES $13,486 ADJUSTED BILL PLUS COLLECTIONS COST" By the way, he NEVER took me to collections. Not ever! He and I had a conversation about monies already paid and work I completed in his office and how he had over-charged me and billed me for atty fee's not paralegal fee's. He decided in 2010 to "call it even". Unbelievable and so incredibly unprofessional. What is the point in contacting me over 11 years after the fact?

Richard Hopp is good at what he does in the aspect of knowing law. However, his response time sucks, he is always gone, his legal assistant is always gone and or too busy to return calls, and his secretary has pretty much turned his waiting area into a day care area with baby stuff everywhere. There is no organization. Files everywhere. I wouldn't recommend hiring him if you want something done in a hurry.
