We had a consult with this attorney + contracted his services. During the initial consult, he acted distracted, looked at a computer screen + slamming our previous legal advisor's character. He told us he'd negotiate a loan mod with the financial institution for a retainer fee, a fair portion of which said he thought would most likely be returned to us at the end of the process. Though he promised in writing to negotiate this modification, he never followed through. Instead, he got us on a forbearance, then abandoned the case. This has ultimately cost us more money with the bank, left the issue unresolved + actually in a worse situation than we were originally, as when you exit a forbearance, there's a 3-month rule to be able to refi, which was impossible since the bank is demanding one single balloon payment. When we went back, he was disinterested, busy with something else.. At last, he said we owed more than the retainer, but never had not communicated any changes in fees. Call HUD.
