Georgia was born and raised in metro Atlanta. She played a key role in the creation of Lord Park by nominating 30 acres of untouched woods owned by her family for use as a public green space. She and her husband had to overcome a series of obstacles to, first, convince DeKalb County it should acquire the property and then to persuade the County to make a permanent commitment that the property would be used as a park named in memory of Georgia's parents. The property is now a City of Tucker park
