About D. Seth Holliday

As a partner at the McMahan Law Firm, LLC, D. Seth Holliday primarily litigates disability, health and life insurance claims on behalf of individuals who have been wrongfully denied their benefits.

Regarding private insurance benefits, Mr. Holliday has sued such insurance companies as Unum, Hartford, Prudential, Standard, Guardian/Berkshire, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, Liberty Mutual, Mass-Mutual, and others that have denied individuals their private disability insurance (called “long-term disability” or “LTD”), life insurance or health insurance claims. His track record here is superb, and he obtains excellent results for his clients. Mr. Holliday is one of only a handful of attorneys across the United States who practices heavily in these areas. He has represented well over a thousand claimants at Social Security hearings and has a very high success rate.

Attorney Holliday is a leader in prominent organizations. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Association for Justice, past-chair of the Disability Law Section of the American Association for Justice, past-chair of the TBA's Disability Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association, and past-president of the Chattanooga Trial Lawyers Association. These are all associations of lawyers who advocate on behalf of injured or disabled individuals. Mr. Holliday lectures regularly on disability issues to other attorneys and has also taught trial advocacy at the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago and business law at Chattanooga State Technical Community College in Tennessee.

Had a great experience with Seth. Very knowledgeable and kind. Listened to my concerns always. Julie Howard was also kind and extremely helpful. Had a positive outcome and would highly recommend Seth to family and friends.

Seth took my case when three other lawyers turned it down bc they didn’t want to deal with it. He gave me conservative and realistic expectations at the start and and throughout the case. He won a settlement for me that was even more than he expected to be able to win. After nearly two years I can finally worry less about finances and the future and focus on trying to get better. I’m very thankful for him and his paralegal Julie, who was also kind and helpful.

Amazing and brilliant. Our office refers all our clients with a potential disability claim to Mr. Holiday, and we have never asked to share fees with him. We refer to him only because we want our clients to be successful. The claims representatives and adjusters have legal departments coaching and crafting every word. From an insured's first telephone call to an insurer all calls are recorded for potentially admission in evidence after the denial. We don't allow clients to face this alone.

I have been beyond impressed with Mr. Holliday from the beginning. I didn't give 5 as a score for "Value for Money" only because I felt I deserved more money in the end result. I do understand that I could have turned the offer down, went to Court, in which most likely the end result could have been a loss in the long run. However, part of me felt the decision was made too quickly and easily that maybe we could have gambled a bit more. I highly recommend Mr. Holliday and would use him again!
