I am a trial lawyer experienced in mortgage litigation, commercial litigation, employment litigation, and insurance defense litigation, having represented mortgage servicers, transportation services providers, employers, real estate companies, financial institutions, insurers and their insureds, and other businesses since 2005. Licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and all federal and state courts in Texas, I handle all aspects of a case, from pre-suit demands to pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, trial preparation, mediation, trial (and arbitration), settlement, and appeals. I have successfully negotiated numerous six- and seven-figure settlements and obtained numerous summary judgments and jury verdicts for my clients, including, for example, a summary judgment in a catastrophic injury oil tanker rollover case and a take-nothing verdict in a wrongful death case in which the plaintiffs sought roughly $21.5 to $32.5 million in damages. I bring a fresh perspective to litigation based on my considerable business and real estate transactional experience early in my career, including business entity planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, contract negotiation and drafting (including non-compete and other employment agreements), technology licensing, trademark prosecution and policing, homeowners' association document drafting, commercial leasing, and real property acquisitions and divestitures. Having been involved on the planning and drafting side of many of the types of business relationships and transactions over which I now litigate, I am particularly well-equipped to identify the critical issues, strengths, and weaknesses of disputes and to successfully craft complex solutions for my clients, including both efficient trial strategies and creative settlement approaches.
