About Mr. John Thomas Kirtley III

John T. Kirtley, III, has practiced law since 1988. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and in Civil Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. John has litigated thousands of cases involving automobile and trucking collisions, premises liability, wrongful death, pharmaceutical drugs and devices litigation, defective products, construction accidents, injured seamen and longshoremen, insurance claims, workers’ compensation, employment retaliation claims, consumer and commercial transactions, sexual abuse, class actions, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Professional memberships include American Board of Trial Advocates, The National Trial Lawyers (Top 100 Trial Lawyers), American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association and Dallas Trial Lawyers Association.

In 2017, John was honored to receive the Texas Trial Lawyers Association’s “John Howie Spirit of Mentorship Award,” for his contributions to the betterment of his colleagues through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and professionalism. In 2021, he received the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association’s “Al Ellis List Server Award,” for the same reasons.

As a native Houstonian, John graduated with honors from the University of Houston. He earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Trial Advocacy.

John’s hobbies include golf, photography and snow skiing.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
