John Read approached my relative in the Lew Sterrett Jail and asked to represent him, said he could get himself court appointed but we'd still need to pay him for "investigation". In return Lawyer Read wanted his co-operation to start a criminal investigation against another lawyer. Read was dressed in a U.S. Navy outfit @ admirals' hat @ said he'd been in Vietnam; he proceeded to tell about his exploits in 'Nam which sounded fake plus real weird: said he'd shot some of his own men for smoking dope. We didn't hire Lawyer Read. I don't know if he was still actually practicing law but if so he shouldn't be.
