Hired Attorney

I am reviewing John B. Polk based on my experience with him as a mediator in my divorce case. At the end of mediation, while collecting payment, he noticed a wallet I was carrying and inferred that it meant I used marijuana. This had never been raised by either party, was unrelated to the issues being mediated, and had no place in the discussion. He then went into my ex-wife's room and questioned her about it in the presence of her attorneys while I was excluded. Although she defended me, I was troubled that an irrelevant personal assumption was discussed privately with the opposing side. A mediator's role is to remain neutral and focused on the issues before them. This experience undermined my confidence in the fairness and impartiality of the mediation process, and I would not choose him as a mediator again.
