Can I expunge a criminal charge for writing bad checks?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
You can expunge cases that have been dismissed or for which you have been found not guilty. This looks like you were issued a summons and no bond was ever filed although it was set in the amount of $1,000. Did you appear on the case and take care of the matter? If not, you may have an outstanding warrant. If so, what happened?

Can I get several misdemeanors expunged from my record?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
Speeding tickets don't count as misdemeanors for purposes of an expungement. They are considered civil infractions. In order to be eligible for an expungement, you can only have one conviction of any kind on your record except felony CSC or potential life offenses. You must wait at least five years before applying. If you do it on your own, expect to spend $300-400 for the costs. If you hire an attorney, you can expect to spend anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000.
