What are the possible consequences for being charged with 2 counts of unlawful procurement of class 3 and 4 narcotics?

Gregory Casale
Answered by attorney Gregory Casale (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Gregory Casale, Attorney at Law
There are several charges that quickly come to mind, including Uttering, fraud and several others. The consequences range from dismissal to jail time depending on your previous criminal history, whether or not you have ever served jail time, your willingness to get into counseling/detox/in-patient treatment, etc. There are so many different things that could happen it really would be impossible to go through all the possibilities. The one certainty is that you need to get good legal representation. A good lawyer should be able to minimize the legal consequences for you and advise you on how to best proceed to achieve that position. If you haven't already hired legal counsel, do so as soon as possible. I would get you into treatment now, early in the process and start compiling a record of successful things for you to accomplish to get your life in order and your case behind you.

What is the name of the group of lawyers who determine a sentence in a criminal case in N.J.

Edward J. Dimon
Answered by attorney Edward J. Dimon (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Edward J. Dimon
The criminal judge sets the sentence based upon a multitude of factors which are established by the legislature and prior case law. For example, the judge must start with the presumption of jail if there is a Second Degree crime and must start the consideration at seven years. The judge finds aggravating and mitigating factors which add or subtract from the sentence. Ed Dimon

Do I go to jail if I’m 14, I broke in somebody’s house and got two felonies?

Not jail, but you could do some time in juvenile hall. The fact that you are posting this online suggests that you are not in custody, which is probably a good sign.
