It sounds as though you have a very defensible case. You need to hire an experienced defense lawyer quickly, who may be able to persuade the assistant state attorney to forego filing charges. The lawyer will be able to see the police report and witness statements and should obtain the videotape via subpoena. If you're only charged with a misdemeanor, the lawyer should ask the court to permit depositions of all witnesses. Discuss with your attorney the merits and ramifications of filing a criminal or civil case against the aggressor.

I suggest you talk to the prosecutor assigned to prosecute the offender.  Most of the time, defendants plead to some plea bargain rather than go to trial.  So the prosecutor could insist that, as part of any plea offer, the Defendant reimburse you for the cost of having the air conditioner reinstalled   The law requires, in criminal cases, that the Defendant, if found guilty whether by trial or plea, pay restitution.  I believe the prosecutor could make an argument that even though the air conditioning unit was recovered, restitution should include the cost of reinstallation -- and, therefore, it is mandatory for the court to order it.
