Will I lose my financial aid for college if I get charged for pot?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
Criminal Law lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
Being charged won't make you lose your aid, but being convicted will make you ineligible for federal aid. Hire a good lawyer to help avoid being convicted.

Do you think I need a lawyer? I was given a ticket by a police officer to appear in juvenile court for misdemeanor child abuse.

I woudl definitely consult a lawyer directly as child abuse charges can affect you in w3ays beyond the criminal court action - like your ability to volunteer in the school, work with youth groups, etc. Find a lawyer familiar with the Court you have to go to and at least pay for a one hour consultation with them.

What will be our next step to protect my daughter at school?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Thomas Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
I suspect that you expect to much. The school does not guarantee your daughter's safety. The school does not even guarantee her a quality education. You drop her off, hoping everything will be alright. Have you investigated the local private schools? Have you investigated the Catholic schools? Have you investigated the boarding schools? Have you investigated home schooling? If you answered no, then you just dropped your child where you were told to drop her depending on where you lived. You gave it no real thought, which is why they do not need to give any real thought to educating or keeping her safe. You did the bare minimum. So, they do the bare minimum. Is that confusing? You get what you give? In regards to her case, you can retain an attorney, or not depending on your philosophy about investigating and preparing.
