Depending on the offense, you may have enough income to retain an attorney. It would best if possible to arrange your turn in with the court and this can be done by the attorney you choose.

For matters other than misdemeanors, such as petty offenses or traffic tickets, you most likely will not be eligible for appointed counsel, but you should ask the Judge because the rules vary from state to state.
