Is it safe to buy a pistol if I am living with a person with a felony?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Freeborn Law Offices P.S.
No. With a felony conviction, the person is prohibited from possessing a firearm. This would be a violation of the terms of probation and that person could end up in jail. You probably are saying, "He's not possessing the firearm, I am". If you are living under the same roof, and he has equal access to everything in the house, he is technically in possession. You don't say what the felony is for, or what this person's criminal record looks like. What do you want more... your relationship with this person or the right to have a gun?? You decide. Your only other option would be to buy the gun and never have it in the home or any place where this person might be. I do not know how difficult that would be for you or how much influence he might have over you in the relationship. Bottom line: you could be buying trouble.

Should my friend get a attorney if he assaulted a police officer? How?

Criminal Law lawyer at Francis John Cowhig
Assault on a police officer is a felony with some serious potential jail time. He needs an attorney. Whether or not he will listen to you and hire one is up to him.

What can i do if I was charged with a failure to comply with a probation order?

Answered by attorney Timothy J Klisz (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Klisz Law Office, PLLC
You were sentenced in court, that is the order of the judge. You don't have to agree to it, and failure to comply is a violation. I don't think your argument will go to far with the judge. Best to get an attorney or at least consult with one.
