The mere conviction of a felony should not cause the loss of the disability benefits. Being sent to prison might.

How can I take care of a traffic ticket in California if I live in Oregon?

You can request a "trial by declaration"; by which you can submit your version of the facts and the officer has an opportunity to submit the same. If the officer responds and your loose, you still get another chance to fight the case in court. These have been very successful in my experience.

What will happen at my preliminary hearing after a mugging?

Answered by attorney Francis John Cowhig (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Francis John Cowhig
The answer to all of your questions is yes. A preliminary hearing is where a judge decides if there is enough evidence to against the defendant to continue the case and send the case to trial. He will be there since he has a constitutional right to confront the witnesses against him. Whether or not you will testify will depend on whether the D.A. feels that your testimony is necessary at this stage of the proceedings. Unless the judge orders differently, preliminary hearings are usually open to the public, although the witnesses who are going to testify are usually excluded from the proceedings until they are called to testify.
