Hire an attorney. This case is not going to go away. You omit quite a bit from your explanation... like how and why your boyfriend got in the car in the first place. I suspect that there is more to this story than you know or what your boyfriend is telling you. First thing I would like to see is whether your boyfriend has any kind of criminal record or past run ins with the police. I suspect he does. He needs an attorney

Too late. You gave your word in court, and don't get a do over. Besides, if you did get it set aside, you then face trial as your only option no deal would ever be offered again after you dishonor your word, if that is what you were thinking. If convicted at trial you would be sentenced to the full term provided under the statute.

Is there an attorney that has successfully defended this type of case and was able to get the defendant no jail time and no registration?

Any defense lawyer who handles felony cases who guarantees that they win 100% of the time is lying. Trials always depend on the facts which of course are unique to each case filed. I have won cases like this and I have lost cases like this. Often I expected different outcomes. Since juries are made up of people they may view witnesses differently from me and their reactions cannot always be predicted.
