How long the civil order of protection is in effect and can it be cancelled in the future if the case is dropped?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Nelson & Lawless
You'll have to read the court order to know the details like duration, nobody here can guess, other than that it is likely to be permanent and subject to modification by court order. To cancel would require a motion in court based upon good cause showing why it is not needed.

Would a public intoxication show up on my record if it was dismissed?

Public intox usually results in arrest. (for your protection and for the public's protection, theoretically). But the case is heard in either a justice of the peace or municipal (city) ct. Ask your lawyer. Otherwise, call my office with the specific court info.

How much jail time will be spent for an indictment on drug distribution?

Answered by attorney Craig W Elhart (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Craig W. Elhart, PC
The amount of jail time would be within the discretion of the judge at time of sentencing. Since the actual charge is not known and there is no conviction, an estimate cannot be made at this time. It would also depend on the persons past record and many other variables under the federal sentencing guidelines.
