If you have a conviction for this crime, you cannot own a firearm. Once 8 years has passed after the completion of the sentence, you can apply to have your gun rights restored.

What will happen? He will be prosecuted. Is this accurate? Yes. How long will his sentence be? It can be up to a year in the county jail. He needs to hire a private criminal defense attorney.

Is it possible for me to own a gun if my husband is a convicted felon?

It is not a good idea for a wife to be in possession of any firearms. He could get charged with a serious felony. It is best to wait until 8 years after he has completed his sentence, then he can apply for restoration of his gun rights.
