What should someone do if they are being falsely accused of a criminal charge?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
Do not talk to her or police any more. Request an attorney as soon as you see the police - do not talk to them - just say I want a lawyer. Once charged, they will give him a public defender. All jail calls and meets are recorded - do not talk about the facts with anyone but your lawyer.

Should my son have his own attorney in a theft case?

Answered by attorney Craig Orent
Criminal Law lawyer at Orent Law Offices, PLC
Yes, each person/defendant should be represented by separate counsel. Otherwise there is a conflict of interest. Sometimes multiple defendants can get away with being represented by a single attorney, but it is very rare and is inadvisable.
