If my case status goes from pending to closed, does that mean my probation is over?

Answered by attorney Larry K. Dunn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Weo Office Suites, LLC
A person can be 'released' from probation early. The issue of restitution can be closed which does not automatically 'release' someone from probation. The Department of Parole and Probation or the sentencing court can provide verification if probation is completed once restitution has been paid.

Can I own a gun with a previous domestic case?

Answered by attorney Kevin T. Ellmann
Criminal Law lawyer at Ellmann & Ellmann, P.C.
Not likely. There are both State and Federal firearms laws at issue here, but a permanent DV conviction will generally disqualify someone from possessing firearms. Best to consult with an attorney about your specific factual scenario and whether there is a possibility to Petition for relief from the prohibition.

You need a lawyer experienced in "Personal Injury" cases.  It is likely that suuch a claim will need to be pursued in Florida under Florida law although there is some chance you could file it as a Federal lawsuit, although that too might need to be filed in a Federal Court in Florida.  Normally these types of cases need to be pursued in the state they occured in.
