What is the average sentence for violating a protective order?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
A violation of a protective order comes in two forms: (1) simple violation, which means 30-60 days in jail; and (2) aggravated stalking, which means 30-60 days before you make a bond, then possibly more jail time when the case is resolved.

Can you be charged with mailing illegal drugs by receiving them? How?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
It is best if you have a lawyer. They can charge you very little evidence, but once trial starts, they better bring proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Ultimately, if you knew someone was sending you drugs through the mail and you did something to aid in that endeavor, you are guilty (if they can prove it). In Federal Court, your sentence depends on the charge and your prior record. There are things you can do to lower a sentence. A knowledgeable lawyer can make sure you get the best result whether you are guilty or not.

What happens if my friend cannot pay the probation fees when his probation ends in March 2014?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
They will extend it and may add more fees - I would ask the court to terminate probation and send to collections. It would be best to pay the fee if possible.
