What happens if I plead not guilty in municipal court and then recharged in district court only hours later?

Once you are driving on a suspended license you will be arrested. IF you are the only person at the scene, the police have the absolute authority to tow the vehicle. Before they tow the vehicle, there is a mandatory inventory search. That is the law. Your feelings about the law, which you clearly do not know mean absolutely nothing.

Aggravated assault carries a maximum of 20 years. So, without knowing anything about the accused's criminal history, I would guess than the prosecutor will be talking about 5 years in prison, more IF the officer was injured.
