Can my attorney charge me extra if I got a deferred adjudicated probation?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
That's what happens when you hire crap lawyers. What does your contract say? No contract? Well, you can simply refuse to pay any additional money because there is nothing the lawyer can do about it and it sounds like bunk to me. Makes no sense that he wants you to pay more because he failed to get your case dismissed. You get what you pay for.

Can i present new evidence 20 years after conviction?

Richard Keith Oliver
Answered by attorney Richard Keith Oliver (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Office of Rick Oliver
It depends. If you have not previously filed a writ of habeas corpus, there is at least a chance you can pursue one alleging newly discovered evidence. It's more complicated than that, though. It's a long and expensive process to do it correctly. But, if you have "new" evidence, it is at least worth sitting down with a writ lawyer to discuss it.

What can I do to my criminal background to make it not show.

David Byron Bice
Answered by attorney David Byron Bice (Unclaimed Profile)

The request to "clean up" or erase one's criminal record is generally limited to the process of expungment or making a request of the governor of your state for a pardon. Expungment usually are limited to charges that were dismissed because the evidence could not support a conviction. Old convictions must be addressed by a pardon.
