Will I be in legal trouble if I filed false charges against someone?

Matthew Murillo
Answered by attorney Matthew Murillo (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Offices of Matthew Murillo
You may get in trouble. Best thing you can do is speak to the District Attorney's office. Calling the police and providing false information in order for them to request charges be filed by the DA is very serious. All of this information goes on someone's record, and can potential hurt many aspects of their private lives. This should NOT be taken lightly. You need to discuss the situation with the DA and do what you can to convince them to drop charges, even if you are going to get in trouble. Why should someone else's life be ruined because of a mistake you made?

If I go into rehabilitation ASAP and test positive in rehabilitation, can my probation officer violate me?

Are these two separate questions? You can be violated IF you test positive while on probation, irrespective of where you test positive.
