You need to hire a lawyer. Evading on foot is a misdemeanor, but they look at people with prior cases differently when they make offers.

How do you get your records expunged? What are the legal criteria to have records expunged?

You must petition the District Court of the county where you were charged with the offense. The criteria is set out in Chapter 55 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. Generally a person can expunge a case where the person was acquitted (found not guilty), the case was dismissed, or a court of appeals overturned a conviction. From your broad question, it would likely be best if you consulted a local criminal defense attorney. Good luck.

I have a class b misdemeanor chart of theft.am I eligible to be hired as a teacher in Plano texas independent school district.

Answered by attorney Tristan Nicolas Legrande
Criminal Law lawyer at LeGrande Law
Hard "maybe." Although it is not a conviction, you plead guilty when you were placed on deferrwd adjudication. In the future you can have this offense sealed, it will remain visible to state agencies, like the TX State Board of Educators, and school districts. You should anticipate you will be required to disclose it, and may have additional scrutiny when applying for teaching positions. Although not a prohibition, a misdemeanor theft, even though you are not convicted, will create hurdles if you want to pursue a career as a teacher.
