About Scott A. Hall

Mr. Hall has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in complex-commercial litigation, insurance-coverage disputes, and environmental law matters.

He also has significant experience in some of the more complicated areas of environmental law, insurance coverage, business law, and healthcare law. Since joining the Dughi, Hewit & Domalewski more than two decades ago, Mr. Hall has also structured, negotiated, and closed many significant commercial transactions, participated in several large, complex trials, conducted numerous depositions, and argued hundreds of motions.

With considerable expertise in state and federal environmental law, Mr. Hall represents individuals and companies of all sizes in environmental disputes and litigation involving claims for cost recovery, environmental remediation, and natural-resource damages. He has extensive experience working with the EPA and the NJDEP and regularly represents companies in PRP (potentially responsible party) groups, and PRP group steering committees, technical committees, and allocation committees.

Mr. Hall also represents individuals and companies of all sizes in insurance coverage disputes. He has counseled clients on insurance claims involving hundreds of millions of dollars arising from environmental pollution, asbestos, toxic torts, property loss, employment practices, and professional errors and omissions.

With years of experience handling complex cases in the healthcare arena, Mr. Hall also represents hospitals in Chancery Court litigation, where he addresses issues resulting from the termination of physician privileges and provides advice to hospitals and physicians concerning the Stark Law as well as state and federal anti-kickback issues.

Mr. Hall leads the firm’s electronically stored information (“ESI”) practice group, which focuses on identifying and implementing cost-effective electronic-discovery techniques with the goal of conserving client resources while preserving the quality of ESI review and production. Well versed in a variety of web-based and on-site electronic-discovery platforms, Mr. Hall has facilitated discovery in highly complicated matters that encompass multiple terabytes of ESI. Mr. Hall has been directly involved in numerous cases that involve the review and production of millions of documents.

Mr. Hall joined Dughi, Hewit & Domalewski in 1997 as a law clerk before becoming an associate in 1999. He was made a partner in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hall participated in the Seton Hall Center for Social Justice Consumer Law Clinic, where he represented indigent clients in state and federal courts involved in claims arising from common-law fraud, the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, bankruptcy, and enforcement-of-settlement rights.

Mr. Hall is admitted to practice in New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
