This is the lawyer my parents hired to represent me during my divorce. He never took my concerns seriously, openly treated me like he thought I was a scorned woman trying to get back at my ex. That just wasn’t the case, my ex and I actually got along well, so thankfully it was an amicable divorce. He did not prepare me for court proceedings, and didn’t seem to even remember the details of my case from one meeting to the next. The only time he showed any empathy or respect is when I brought my father with me.

Mike would go weeks without responding to emails and when he did he provided no advice what so ever. He knew I was attempting to get 50/50 custody yet didn't mention Iowa has prerequisites that must be met to recieve this. The prerequisite I failed was an open line of communication between both parents which the judge noted I had attempted but the other party refused. This could have saved me thousands of dollars and many hours of stress and would have changed my strategy. I was then able to get access to my ex's email through my iPad she had used when we were together and I saw my ex's lawyer saying that Mike had been giving less than stellar character reviews of me his client to the opposing legal representative. I assume that was in reference to me threatening to file a complaint to the state bar association for literally ignoring weeks of emails and voicemails requesting legal advice as my ex refused to allow the court mandated visitation during my allotted time.

His website offers a free consultation but he charged me. He did an absolutely AWFUL job negotiating a temporary settlement order, which completely favored my ex. He was almost completely unresponsive and non-communicative. After receiving a letter from my ex's attorney, his comment to me was that "apparently, he's angry." I had my friend rebut the letter and then Mike just copied that, almost verbatim to send back, but he charged me as though he wrote it.
