A native of North Carolina, Paul Ivey is the managing partner of the firm’s Columbus office. Paul practices in the areas of medical malpractice, premises liability, retail liability, insurance defense, and workers’ compensation defense. Paul has tried numerous cases for clients throughout Georgia. Paul is on the Board of Directors for the Stewart Community Home.

Correctional Health Care
Paul has extensive experience in representing correctional health care organizations from the development of policies and procedures through the representation at trial. He combines his extensive experience in the medical malpractice area with the unique aspects of representing correctional health care providers in traditional medical malpractice matters as well as matters alleging constitutional violations.
Data Privacy & Cybersecurity
Paul has participated as a speaker in three presentations on Enterprise Cyber Risk with particular emphasis on how the attorney client privilege and work product doctrine can assist in protecting the results of the risk assessment from discovery and disclosure in any future litigation. Paul is also listed as one of the authors on the recently published white paper providing a comprehensive overview of Enterprise Cyber Risk.

Paul has served as defense counsel for many employers throughout Georgia in the defense of worker’s compensation claims. Paul has extensive experience in the defense of all types of worker’s compensation claims.
Insurance Coverage
Paul has represented numerous Insurance companies and their insureds in both first party and third party suits. Paul has extensive experience in all aspects of Insurance defense from the filing of the case through trial. Paul represents insurance companies and their insureds in both automobile and property cases.
Labor & Employment
Paul is committed to helping employers avoid, resolve, and prevail in employment disputes involving the full range of employment and labor issues. This includes litigation in state and federal courts and the representation of employers before administrative agencies over claims including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, accommodation, state torts such as negligent supervision and hiring, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, defamation, invasion of privacy, and wrongful discharge allegations.
Medical Malpractice
Paul has served as counsel defending hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice actions for much of his legal career. He has extensive experience in defending all types of medical claims from the filing of the lawsuit through trial. Paul represents hospitals and physicians throughout the state of Georgia in complex medical malpractice cases.
Premises Liability
Paul, the co-leader of our Premises Liability practice, has extensive experience in defending property owners in premises liability actions. Paul has defended many “slip and fall” actions as well as other premises liability claims for many employers throughout Georgia.
