About Richard C. Detwiler

Rick has been a trial lawyer for 39 years. He focuses his practice on representing clients in complex civil litigation in state and federal courts. Rick’s primary practice consists of representing individuals and their loved ones who have suffered from catastrophic personal injuries, including workplace injuries, or who have been aggrieved in complex business disputes.

Rick is a member of the Association for Justice, The South Carolina Association for Justice, and the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. He has been recognized for decades by Martindale-Hubbell with its highest Peer Review Rating of “AV Preeminent,” demonstrating the highest level of professional excellence, legal skill, and ethical standing in the practice of law.

He is also certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a Circuit Court Mediator. He has tried over 100 cases to verdict, including jury and non-jury lawsuits, and has navigated successful settlements for clients in hundreds more disputes. These have involved serious personal injury and wrongful death, complex commercial litigation, estate and trust lawsuits, and suits involving serious environmental contamination and stormwater runoff.

Rick brought his practice to Callison Tighe in 1991 and has been a partner since 1992. He currently acts as the firm’s Managing Member.
