This guy is a total crook. I was charged with minor possession of marijuana several years ago after a roommate of mine had been stealing and the police executed a search warrant at my residence. At this time I was a student at the University of Missouri, so I first sought the counsel of the free legal advisor for students on the MU campus. Long story short, I received horrible guidance from the MU law advisor so I went to first lawyer I could find. For some reason the charges were listed with the state initially and not the city, so I was told this was something to be concerned about. Copeland has me sign a contract for $2,000 for a simple marijuana possession charge, but said he would reduce cost if it was dropped down to city charge. Well it was dropped to city charge (no thanks to him) and he wouldn’t bring the price down. I ended up paying about $1,200 and he sued me for the rest but I never paid it after I threatened action with the Missouri Bar Association. He backed off
I was in desperate need of an attorney for my traffic ticket. I called Mr. Copeland's office twice & left a message with his secretary. I got no response. After a busy work day, I called him again & his firm was closed. I received a recording with a second number. I then was able to reach him. I tried to kindly tell him my situation & told him that I desperately needed his help. He then replies in these exact words: "NO! I'm not interested in representing you ever! Thank you! Good Bye!"
