In August 2022, Jessica Keister joined Family Legal Advocacy Group (FLAG) as an Associate Attorney, bringing a commitment to family law and a diverse legal background to her role.
Jessica earned her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Psychology from Salisbury University in May 2018. Subsequently, she pursued her Juris Doctor degree at the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., graduating in May 2021. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in January 2022.
During her time in law school, Jessica discovered her interest and passion for family law while working as a law clerk for a Howard County family law firm. Additionally, she served as a student attorney in her law school's Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Clinic (IRAC), representing low-income immigrant clients in immigration matters and related family law cases. Her diverse legal experience includes law clerk positions at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender and the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C.
Before joining FLAG, Jessica served as a judicial law clerk to Family Magistrate Gwendolyn S. Tate at the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. In this role, she assisted unrepresented litigants in navigating the Maryland family court system, gaining firsthand insight into the complexities of family-related issues in the courtroom, especially when parties lack representation for highly emotional family law matters.
As the child of Air Force retirees, Jessica's upbringing took her to various locations, from California to Texas to Japan. Currently residing in Columbia, she brings a diverse perspective to her legal practice. In her free time, Jessica enjoys staying active, reading, and spending quality time with her two dogs. Her dedication to family law and commitment to assisting those navigating the legal system are evident in her professional journey and diverse experiences.
