I retained Arthur Garton to handle my case in 2020. For well over a year his performance, on my case, was nothing short of negligent. Weeks went by with phone calls and emails unanswered. Agreed upon timelines to have documents prepared, delivered or filed were grossly ignored. Court dates were constantly rescheduled for personal reasons. When I was finally able to nail him down for a meeting, I would be forced to regurgitate all the facts again because prior notes were lost or so much time had passed that Art simply forgot the 2–4-hour conversation we had in the prior meeting. Upon retaining him, I asked that I be given the opportunity to review documents submitted on my behalf for accuracy. The request was rarely adhered to, and when I did pull the document from the court, inadequate is an understatement. A first-year law student would have failed the class. To be continued...
Garton represented me in family court and his demeanor was unpleasant. Furthermore, he did not listen to my needs and he didn't do anything that I couldn't have done on my own. After this experience, I believe the minimal services he did on my behalf were not nearly close to what he charged me. I would not recommend him as he didn't do his job and also didn't file responses on time.
