I’m deeply disappointed by the handling of my appeal regarding a parking violation issued after I had legally sold the vehicle in question. Despite providing both the bill of sale and the DMV release of liability—documents that clearly establish I was no longer the owner at the time of the citation—the hearing officer inexplicably upheld the charge. This decision reflects either a lack of understanding of basic DMV procedures or a troubling disregard for evidence. The role of a hearing officer is to evaluate facts objectively and apply the law accordingly. In this case, the facts were straightforward, and the law was on my side. Upholding liability under these circumstances undermines trust in the appeals process and penalizes responsible citizens who follow proper protocol. If this is the standard of review being applied, it raises serious concerns about fairness, competence, and accountability within the department.
