Hired Law Firm

Jacob was by far the best lawyer I have ever used. He gave me a timeline that was correct and a cost that was well worth the money. Every time I emailed him with a concern or instruction he communicated back with me immediately and even asked if I needed a phone call. His level of professionalism is beyond anything I expected. I recommend him to anybody seeking a terrific lawyer and I expect I will always use this firm moving forward.

Hired Attorney Katie Klinghard

Katie is a grate attorney and help me out so much. She really has it all together. I don't know if I would have won my case without her. I strongly recommend her to anyone.

Hired Law Firm

I hired Jacob Mathis as my divorce attorney and paid him a $4,000 retainer. His communication was minimal and unclear, often forcing me to follow up multiple times just to get basic answers. He didn’t help me prepare for court, which left me unprepared on the day of the hearing. At the time, I was recently separated from the Army after 10 years of service and was unemployed. I explained my job search and plans to attend school using my GI Bill, but the judge still imputed me an income of $90,000—more than I’ve ever earned. Mathis didn’t challenge this or advocate for me. I was awarded 50% of the gym equipment, but Mathis didn’t ensure the other party provided proof of purchase, which made dividing it fairly difficult. He also allowed the court to state I hadn’t completed the required parenting class, even though I had sent him the certificate. Later, he asked for an additional $2,000 just to fix the child support issue.

I paid a $150 deposit to speak to a lawyer and they said they would keep in touch but never did contact me at all. Communication was very disappointing.

Hired Attorney Katie Klinghard

DO NOT HIRE KATIE BELL KLINFHARD. SHE WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY. SHE IS SELFISH. She made me pay $1750 first a month later I paid her another $1750. My husband filed for a divorce and Katie has been representing me since August 2021, my divorce is not final and I was a stay-at-home mom for 20 years. I took care of the house, kids, my husband's business, my business, the dog, the vehicles, his brothers, his mom had a car accident and I took care of everything. My husband only wants to give me my car and clothes. We went to court only once because I never signed any divorce papers and I was never served with divorce papers. I went to visit Katie on Feb 16, 2022. She did not want to let me see my divorce files. She said I had to come back in 24 hours. I asked her to just let me see what she had completed. She filled out some paperwork while I was in the conference room and it dated the same date as the day that I was sitting in her office. All I want her to do is settle my case.

Hired Attorney Katie Klinghard

Absolute garbage! I hired Katie Klinghard in early October of 2015 after an employee at Verizon Wireless used my name and social security number for a phantom account that was open for nearly a year. I was taken to collections and my credit score dropped almost 100 points.
Mrs. Klinghard offered to take the case on contingency and told me it was a direct violation of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act. Over the next four months, she would be next to unreachable. When she was, she told me she was “writing letters” to Verizon and wasn’t getting a response. We agreed to file for litigation since they were not responding.
Then, she mails a letter to my home saying she was dropping the suit since Verizon wasn’t responding. I demanded to see all her “attempts” at communicating with Verizon. Come to find out, she mailed TWO letters and addressed them both to customer service! I made contact with Verizon customer service within minutes! How did a bared attorney fail to do the same?!
Personally, I consulted with other attorneys and I agree with the general opinion they had. Mrs. Klinghard left her firm to start her own practice in 2016. She realized how expensive it would be to suit Verizon on contingency and did not have the resources since she started her own new practice! So, she dropped my case to save herself money and cut her own losses!
Now the statute of limitations in dangerously approaching for my case and I have NO REPRESENTATION. I am disgusted with this attorney. She knew within the first few weeks she was not going to be able to follow through with this case! She held the case without telling me she couldn’t follow through so she could try to avoid any negative reviews for her new practice!
Do NOT take an attorney that drops cases whenever they feel like it! DO NOT take an attorney that can’t even make contact with the customer service department of one of the largest companies in America! DO NOT make the same mistake I did! The lawyers at her practice, Mathis Bates & Klinghard, dress nice and talk slick, but that is where it ends!
