About James C. Harman

It’s clear when you meet him that Jim Harman is driven by a passion for helping people.

Jim joined CHH in 1988 and has been a partner of the firm since 1990, specializing in medical malpractice litigation. Jim’s record is outstanding, having won numerous multi-million dollar awards.

Prior to joining the firm in 1988, Jim was a staff attorney for the United States Treasury Department and Special Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago, Illinois.

Before Jim became an attorney, he was a licensed respiratory therapist and worked for eight years with patients in several Chicagoland hospitals. This combined experience allows Jim to truly understand and evaluate cases from both a legal and a medical perspective. And its why he takes each case personally.

Never wanting anybody to feel just like a case number, Jim insists that he and everyone at CHH give their clients personal attention.

Jim is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and American Association for Justice.

Born in Evergreen Park, Jim now resides in Downers Grove.

He’s not just an avid baseball fan, but still plays center field in a Chicago Men’s Senior Baseball League.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
