George T. Brugess has been a partner at Cogan and Power, P.C. since November of 2015. An experienced Federal Employer Liability Act litigator, he has more than 30 years of experience representing plaintiffs in railroad-related personal injury cases throughout the country. After graduating from DePaul law school in 1981, George handled his first FELA case for an Amtrak coach cleaner injured at Chicago Union Station. George did not have much time to settle into his role as partner at Cogan & Power, P.C. On his first day with the firm George started a trial with his new partner, John Power, and achieved a record FELA verdict in Cook County of $24.5 million. The previous record FELA verdict in Illinois was $15 million.
