For William Crantford, practicing law is about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives by standing up for their rights and guiding them through challenging legal situations with dedication and integrity. His passion for public service began early, shaped by a family deeply involved in public affairs, politics, and community engagement. While earning his B.A. in Political Science from Louisiana State University, he discovered how the law shapes communities, which led him to work on statewide political campaigns in South Carolina. His experience at a prestigious complex litigation law firm in Charleston confirmed that his calling was to be a litigator, advocating for clients with skill and determination.
William approaches each case with a commitment to preparation, strategic thinking, and client-focused representation. While at Charleston School of Law, he was recognized for his pro bono work and gained valuable courtroom experience clerking for the Ninth Circuit Solicitor. After passing the bar, he served as Clerk for the Honorable Maite Murphy of the South Carolina Circuit Court, participating in hundreds of pleadings, hearings, and trials across the state. In 2015, he co-founded Murphy Crantford Meehan with his partner, Jerry Meehan, where he continues to serve clients with the same dedication and drive that first inspired him to pursue the law.
