Kelley Young’s passion for the Lowcountry runs deep, and she has dedicated her entire career to protecting the people in her home community. After finishing law school at the top of her class, she built a formidable reputation as an Assistant Solicitor in Charleston, where she focused on litigating violent crimes. Her unique legal skills were so well-regarded that the Governor appointed her as a Magistrate Judge for Charleston County. On the bench, she saw thousands of cases, from bond hearings to traffic court, which gave her a rare perspective on how to identify the weak points in a prosecution’s case. Kelley eventually transitioned into private practice alongside Adam Young, where she now focuses on personal injury and criminal defense. She also serves as a prosecutor for the City of Folly Beach, ensuring she stays connected to every side of the courtroom. Whether she’s negotiating a plea deal or advocating for an injury victim, Kelley’s unique history as both a prosecutor and a judge allows her to anticipate the opposition's moves before they even make them. The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
