I saw an ad for Attorney Maurice Johnson under Google when I was looking for a QDRO attorney. If you are reading this, you like me are interested in finding information about Attorney Maurice Johnson before handing him a check. In my opinion, a wise decision. If you are also like me, you have found that there is very little on the internet written about Maurice Johnson that was not posted by he himself. I looked on the BBB site nothing, I checked the Bar Assn nothing, I checked findlaw still nothing. So I sent Maurice Johnson an e-mail asking him for his Attorney Registration number so that I may check his references with the Colorado Supreme Court listing. And his sole reply only: “ I am not going to work with you.” Please bear in mind that this was after we had already exchanged e-mails and he had laid out the reasons why I should hire him to do my QDRO, and I had decided that I would like to work with him provided that I could find a couple of references. I am writing this not to badmouth this attorney, I know nothing about him precisely the point. I only write this to warn you that as of this writing, there is no information about him on-line, and if you ask him for references he will not work with you. Which from my perspective I am happy about, because I do not want to work with anyone who is offended by my wanting to be assured that he is a legitimate attorney and not a scam before hiring him. He was reasonable all the way up until I submitted my payment. The QDRO draft came back & he asked me to send him changes before passing it on to the other party. There was a reference where a "his" was supposed to say "her". When I asked to make the change he said that I needed to make the change it myself. He said, "This is such bull s#*t. People like you are used to fighting & Ido not have time to deal with this." I said, “Well I have just hired and paid you $275 to do this" & hung up on me.
DO NOT HIRE THIS QDRO ATTORNEY. Maurice will take your money, draft up a qdro that takes him 5 minutes and then wash his hands of you. If you have any further questions or need assistance, he will not help you. Actually told me if I need additional assistance on HIS QDRO order, I should hire another attorney. Seeing more reviews now, this seems to be a trend for him.
