Katherine Yens is a Criminal/Family Law Attorney.
Katherine Yens earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2019. During her time in law school, she was an active member of the Student Trial Lawyers Association, served as Vice President of the Jewish Law Students Association, and held a Member at Large position with the Criminal Law Association. Katherine also participated in the Tribal Wills Project, reflecting her commitment to community service. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Technology, Arts, and Media from the University of Colorado Boulder, obtained in 2015.
Since beginning her legal career in 2019, Katherine has been a dedicated advocate for her clients across the Front Range of Colorado. She started as a deputy state public defender, where she represented clients in a wide range of criminal cases, from traffic offenses to homicide. Katherine expanded her practice to include family law, leveraging her extensive courtroom and negotiation experience to assist clients in domestic relations matters. Known for her willingness to go to court and her talent for developing creative solutions during negotiations, Katherine is a formidable advocate at all stages of the case.
Katherine has shared her expertise through teaching Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, including a session on Colorado’s statutory scheme on Bond and Pre-Trial Release. She has also been featured on the criminal defense-focused podcast “Public Defenseless,” where she discussed key aspects of her work and insights into the criminal justice system.
Community Involvement
Katherine is an active volunteer, dedicating her time to the Colorado Bar Association’s High School Mock Trial Committee and the Colorado Lawyers for Colorado Veterans clinic.
