I was looking for assistance from Attorney Robert Harker regarding a step-parent adoption and the situation turned very sour as soon as he realized that he would have to put in more work than originally expected, even when this possibility was disclosed from the beginning. I am a member of MetLife Legal plan and they have a contract with Mr. Harker to provide the SAME quality of service at a previously agreed-upon rate paid by the plan instead of the client. We discussed the possibility of this being a contested adoption instead of an uncontested one and the firm agreed to proceed despite what happened. However, when they saw that it was leaning more to a contested adoption, they began to lie about the work that had been done, find any reason to end services, and stated that the responsibility to contact the other party about the adoption falls on me because "they don't do that for MetLife clients," meaning that I get a lesser service because I am not paying them thousands of dollars.
