About Alec Leland Baker

I’ve been in the courtroom since 2019, and I spent the first six years of my legal career on the other side of the aisle — as a prosecutor in Crawford, Vanderburgh, and Marion Counties. I know how the State builds cases, how they apply pressure, and how they can get it wrong. I left the prosecutor’s office because I saw too many people get treated like case numbers instead of human beings — and too many lives damaged by a system that’s supposed to be fair but often isn’t. That’s why I now fight for the accused at Blankenship Law.

I grew up moving all over the country before settling in Southern Indiana, graduating from Castle High School in Newburgh. I went on to Indiana University Bloomington and earned my law degree from IU’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. But the courtroom—not the classroom—is where I learned what really happens when someone is charged with a crime.

In six years as a prosecutor, I handled everything Indiana can throw at a person — from minor DNR violations in Crawford County, to major drug trafficking cases in Vanderburgh County, to murders and violent felonies in Marion County. I’ve tried numerous cases in front of judges and juries. I’ve cross-examined cops, challenged bad evidence, and argued motions that decide whether someone walks free or loses years of their life.

I don’t sugarcoat things for my clients. If you’re charged with a crime, the State of Indiana is coming at you with everything it has. But you’re not alone. I know how prosecutors think, where they cut corners, and how to force them to prove their case — not just assume it. My job is to make sure you understand what’s happening, that your rights are protected at every step, and that you get the aggressive, no-nonsense defense you deserve.

When your freedom, reputation, and future are on the line, you need someone who’s been in the trenches — and knows how to fight back.
