Hired Attorney

My husband and I hired Mr. Geraghty in January 2025 to represent us in a straightforward small-claims case against our wedding photographer. Unfortunately, his representation fell far short of expectations. Over eight months, he repeatedly filed last-minute continuances without our consent, failed to communicate effectively—often ignoring emails and calls for weeks—and submitted documents to the court without informing us or consulting on key changes. We also spent a significant amount on cease-and-desist letters, which the other party ignored. Despite this, Mr. Geraghty took no further action, rendering that effort and expense completely wasted. He introduced new legal arguments late in the process, failed to keep us informed, and altered proposed settlement terms without our approval.At our most recent court appearance, he misled us about attending, resulting in confusion and a public rebuke from the magistrate over his conduct. The following day, he abruptly withdrew from the case

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*
