I approached this lawyer to assist with my separation and divorce following a domestic violence situation. For the past 1 1/2 years, I have to continually follow up to determine status. He only takes action when I complain. I have filed a complaint with the Nova Scotia law society and he still does not take the completion of divorce serious. He lacks the ability to prioritize and follow through on any commitments.
When my 2nd parent passed away and there was a sizeable estate to deal with and organize, I found Mr Conohan quite arrogant,flippant and sometimes difficult to deal with. He gave all of my siblings amounts to expect with the final disbursement.He gave erroneous numbers more than once and emailed him to question his errors he explained, after many emails back and forth, the numbers he quoted were simply not his problem and that it was clerical staff error. He went on to tell me, after I responded that he honor the numbers he quoted on letterhead and official documents, that I was simply asking for funds that just weren’t there. I do know that lawyers have professional liability insurance (also known as errors and omissions insurance, ie E&O) for such glaring mistakes and that perhaps he be accountable for his. But more than any other reason, Mr Conohan is quite rude, lacks professionalism. Somehow, he was invited to my mothers private memorial where he played on his phone throughout.
