Lee A. Montgomery was born in Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Montgomery graduated from Kittanning High School in 1956. He attended Thiel College, Greenville, Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in 1960. He then attended Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and received his Juris Doctor in 1964. While in law school Mr. Montgomery was elected to the Dickinson Law Review and served as Associate Editor in 1963 and 1964. In addition he was elected to the Woolsack Society for outstanding scholarship. He also received the Able Klaw Prize for advocacy at graduation. After law school, Mr. Montgomery was elected to the Board of Trustees for Thiel College.
Mr. Montgomery began his law practice in Butler County in 1964. He has served as Solicitor for the Butler County Prothonotary since 1976. Throughout the years, Mr. Montgomery has been extremely active in the Civil side of the Court. He has litigated cases for both plaintiffs and defendants in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler Cambria, Clearfield, Jefferson, Indiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, and Westmoreland Counties. These cases have included personal injury claims resulting from automobile accidents, slips and falls, defective products, medical malpractice. Other cases have included breach of contracts, boundary disputes, Wills and Estates contests, injunctions, divorce, support and custody matters.
Mr. Montgomery has served as Special Master appointed by the Court. Also as an arbitrator or mediator appointed through Butler County procedures, the American Arbitration Association, or the parties involved in the dispute.
