About Robert W. Canny

Robert Canny joined the law firm of the Law Offices of Paula Canny in 2007. Robert comes to the office with a wealth and breadth of life experience not often found in those newly admitted to practice law.

Prior to law school Robert was a successful college and professional football coach. Robert coached stints included the University of Wisconsin, Valparaiso University, Shippensburg University and Mansfield University. He won an Indoor Football League Championship with his Green Bay Bombers and his defense earliar in the season recorded the first ever shutout in any Indoor Football league game. In almost twenty years of coaching Robert learned tactical planning, evaluation of his team’s strengths and weaknesses and the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. Robert learned how to make decisions not just about plays but about people. Robert met and was involved with people of all races and socio-economic statuses. He learned from all these encounters and experiences. In the emotionally charged context of recruiting he learned to be sensitive to the families of prospective athletes concerns. Robert learned to listen. He brings all that with him to the practice of law.

During law school Robert worked for the San Bernardino County Public Defender Office for two years writing motions, arguing motions, research, and appearing in Court as a Certified Law Student. Robert handled all facets of the San Bernardino Drug Court Program at the Rancho Cucamonga site and did weekly court appearances representing defendants in Drug Court.

Robert also served as a law clerk for a year at Geragos & Geragos where he assisted the Criminal Law and Civil Litigation departments of the firm. He also volunteered approximately 100 hours at the Pomona Self Help Clinic to gain experience in Family law.

Passion and commitment to each case is the same philosophy Robert practiced as a coach with each recruit and player he coached. The commitment to excellence that firm founder Paula Canny demands is a philosophy which Robert lives, believes, and practices. Each case demands and each client deserves and receives the very best representation at The Law Offices of Paula Canny.
