John T. Loss began his path to legal excellence in Western New York, where he grew up and completed his undergraduate studies. He graduated summa cum laude with All College Honors from Canisius College before moving on to the prestigious Cornell Law School. During his time at Cornell, John established himself as a brilliant legal scholar, finishing an impressive second in his graduating class and earning his Juris Doctor magna cum laude. His law school achievements were numerous, including serving as the managing editor of the Cornell Law Review, being inducted into the Order of the Coif, and winning the First Year Moot Court Competition. He was also recognized with several distinguished academic honors, such as the Corpus Juris Secundum Award and the Kerr Memorial Prize.Following law school, John secured a prestigious opportunity that would forever shape his professional worldview. He served as a federal law clerk to the Honorable Frank M. Johnson, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. John credits this formidable experience under a legendary jurist as a primary guiding influence in his legal career. He continues to deeply honor Judge Johnson’s legacy today by serving as a literary executor for the late judge's official papers housed at the Library of Congress.Transitioning into private practice, John built an extraordinary thirty-seven-year legal career characterized by vast trial, litigation, and appellate experience. Throughout more than three decades in the courtroom, he tried dozens of jury cases across a wide variety of legal matters. His diverse background includes defending healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions, representing various professionals in complex disciplinary proceedings, and advocating passionately for injured individuals facing intricate legal hurdles. Because of his extensive background and unwavering fairness, he was selected to serve as one of only four statewide evaluators for both No Fault and Supplemental Underinsured Motorist arbitrators.
