About James A. Lenes

Harking back to the days of the “general practice” lawyer, James A. Lenes, a partner, has represented individuals and businesses since 1991 in the areas of personal injury cases, commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, commercial and residential evictions, foreclosures, collections, and real estate litigation, including home improvement contractor disputes and boundary line disputes.

Among his recent success stories, Jim has helped car accident and slip and fall victims to recover substantial awards from the parties causing injuries, tried and won cases involving breach of contract, adverse possession, and residential eviction, settled a hotly contested foreclosure action against a national bank which mistreated the homeowner, recovered money paid to home improvement contractors responsible for shoddy work, and has helped numerous clients get out from under substantial debt by way of bankruptcy. By handling so many different types of cases, Jim is able to see angles that escape lawyers devoted to only one or two types of law.

Jim is a plain speaker and will quickly get to the heart of your matter. He is easy to talk to and will help you understand all of your options. Jim will never pressure you into expensive litigation. If you do choose to take your case to court, however, Jim will lead you through the process in an efficient, transparent, and cost-effective manner.

Outside of the office, Jim is a proud husband and father of two, and the owner of four rescued dogs, including two greyhounds. He is an avid bicyclist and hiker, and is active in his community, having coached his son’s Little League teams for many years.

Jim is a graduate of Lehigh University and the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he was an editor of the Connecticut Law Review.
