Mr. Grimes specializes in land use law, representing national, regional and local developers in the investigation, acquisition, zoning and site plan approval, financing and sale of real property. He has handled approvals, updates, extensions and changes for numerous developments of regional impact, known as “DRI’s.” As part of the land use process he assists in the issue of all types of permits relating to the development and use of property, and has secured all manner of development rights using his experience with growth management laws, governmental comprehensive development plans and land development codes, as well as his experience as a litigator.
Mr. Grimes also works with developers and property owners in connection with securing incentives from the State and local governments relating to the development of the property. As part of the land use process, Mr. Grimes also handles the transactions needed with the acquisition and development, including letters of intent, partnership agreements and purchase and sale agreements. One of the most important aspects of acquisition of land for development is the due diligence required to assure that the property can be developed as envisioned. Mr. Grimes has assisted in due diligence on many such transactions.
